Care Guide
Crafted with care, made to lastEach piece is thoughtfully handcrafted in collaboration with local artisans, using natural materials and traditional techniques. With the right care, your piece will age beautifully and stay with you for years to come.
Washing
- Wash at 30 °C on a gentle cycle or hand wash
- Use a mild detergent only
- Avoid bleach, brighteners, or harsh stain removers
- Wash inside out and with similar colours
- For delicate pieces, we recommend using a laundry bag
Drying
- Air dry only, preferably in the shade
- Avoid tumble drying, as it may damage fibres and colours
- Do not wring excessively — gently reshape while damp
Ironing
- Iron on low heat
- Always iron inside out to protect the fabric
Natural Dye & Material Characteristics
Our textiles are dyed using natural processes and handcrafted techniques. As a result:
- Slight variations in colour, texture, or finish may occur
- Colours may softly evolve or fade over time
- Some colour release may occur during the first few washes
These characteristics are not flaws, but a reflection of the authenticity and individuality of each piece.
Due to the natural dyeing process and handcrafted nature of our products, colour changes, fading, or bleeding may occur over time.
While we provide care guidelines to help you maintain your product, we cannot accept liability for damage caused by improper care, washing methods, or colour transfer.
Preserving
the Craft.
Handcrafted textiles are living materials. Here is how to properly care for natural dyes, handwoven fibers, and delicate artisan details.
Is it normal for the color to bleed during the first wash?
Yes. Natural and botanical dyes, particularly deep indigo, often release excess surface color during their initial washes. We highly recommend washing these pieces separately by hand in cold water to prevent color transfer to lighter garments.
Will the handwoven fabric develop pills or change texture?
Hand-spun fibers possess a natural, slightly uneven texture that evolves beautifully over time. Slight pilling in high-friction areas is a completely normal characteristic of pure, unblended cotton and silk, and can be easily resolved with a gentle fabric shaver.
How should I iron garments with metallic zari or embroidery?
Always press your garments on the reverse side using a medium-heat setting. For extra protection, place a soft, unbleached muslin cloth between the iron and the fabric to preserve the intricate handwork. A handheld steamer is also an excellent, gentle alternative.
How do I prevent natural botanical dyes from fading?
Botanical colors are sensitive to prolonged UV exposure. To maintain their deep vibrancy, always dry your washed garments flat in the shade. Store them in a dark, cool space away from direct sunlight when not being worn.
What is the best way to store heavy silks and handwoven cottons?
We strongly recommend folding heavy silks and dense cottons rather than hanging them. Over time, gravity can pull on the weight of the fabric and permanently stretch the shoulder seams. Store them in breathable cotton bags to protect against dust and humidity.
